Resizing Your Japanese Symbols

There are a number of free software packages for viewing, resizing and printing PDF files.

The original and most popular package is Adobe Reader, however when it comes to printing, its resizing abilities are very limited. So instead we recommend Foxit Reader for precise control.

Step-by-step instructions for both are below, but if you have trouble please ask us for assistance.

Adobe Reader

To reduce your symbols using the free Adobe Reader software:

  1. First, find the page number that you want to print out
  2. Then from the menu bar, select File > Print
  3. Set Print Range to be Pages and enter the number of the page to print
  4. Change Pages per sheet to be Custom
  5. Enter the below numbers into the boxes, think of them like fractions:
    • 1 by 2 = reduces to half size (1/2)
    • 1 by 3 = reduces to third size (1/3)
    • 1 by 4 = reduces to quarter size (1/4)
    • etc
  6. When the preview image looks the size you want, press OK to begin printing
